One day I sat down with Bj Penn and David
Camarillo and we started talking about how
we would change the gis we got from Brazil. How they fit
funny in some places or how the pants limited movement in the guard
different collars. Those conversations on the mat back in the
90s would go on every time someone would bring a new gi back from
Brazil or Japan.
I lived in Brazil for 3
years and visited 8 gi factories and got
over 50 sample gis made there. It was a real learning experience for me from the
cotton, to the material, to the cutting and sewing of the gi.
I then traveled to Pakistan (Where i was almost
kidnapped!), China, Taiwan to learn more
about gi manufacturing in order to produce the highest quality
gi. This gi is redesigned from the cotton it is made
from. It's American cotton that is woven into a new weave
that is 620 grams and soft and smooth on the inside. The
pattern for the gi has been redesigned by an old veteran suit
designer. This is the only sport cut fitted gi on the market.
No other gi fits like this one.
